Stop Birds from Stealing Your Blueberries

Birds Kept Eating all Our Blueberries

A long time ago, we planted a bunch of blueberries. We planted 5 bushes total of 3 different types to grow as many blueberries as possible. Each year we got more and more blueberries, but we also have lots of birds. We have so many birds now, you can even hear them in the background on the video above. The problem was the birds were eating all of our blueberries. Luckily, my Dad and I came up with a way to stop the birds from eating all our blueberries. We built a blueberry cage!

Blueberry Cage Keeps Birds Away

The solution was that my Dad and I built a blueberry cage to keep the birds away. We built it on Father's Day last year. It wasn't very expensive, it was pretty easy to make, and we only needed a few things to make it. We made it out of

  • 3/4 inch PVC pipe
  • Garden mesh netting
  • Zip ties

By the way the PVC pipe we used is called "Schedule 40". Some people still call it "Charlotte Pipe". If you leave it out in the sun year-round, sunlight can break it down. To protect the pipe, you could paint it, but we just take it down at the end of the season and store it in the garage for next year.

This was a fun project to build with my Dad. It didn't take long, and there aren't many pieces to put together. Plus, we got to eat more bluberries.  If you want us to post the plans, please comment down below.  If there are enough comments and likes below we can make it so you can download the plans and make your own blueberry cage.
